About the position

The Supervisory Air Traffic Control Specialist (Operations Manager) is responsible for planning and directing operations within an en route facility, overseeing multiple support activities such as training, quality assurance, and traffic management. This role impacts the safe and efficient movement of aircraft and the overall effectiveness of aviation operations. The Operations Manager leads a technical workforce, provides training and guidance, and integrates resources to maintain effective air traffic control services.

Responsibilities

• Directs a highly technical workforce providing air traffic control services and tactical support.
• Plans and sets priorities for work schedules and assignments.
• Reviews and evaluates work performance of subordinates, ensuring equity in performance standards.
• Provides training, coaching, and guidance to subordinates.
• Communicates and reinforces diversity and EEO policies in all areas of responsibility.
• Participates in labor-management partnership processes and resolves employee grievances.
• Adjusts staffing levels and work procedures based on higher-level resource decisions.
• Contributes to the accomplishment of facility goals and objectives.

Requirements

• Must have held an FAA 2152 FG-14 or above regional or headquarters position for at least 1 year.
• Must have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year in an ATS facility.
• Must have held a MSS position or above for at least 1 year in an ATS facility.
• Must currently hold or have held the position of MSS-2 or higher for at least 1 year or a FAA 2152 FV-J/FG-14 or higher in a Headquarters or Region position for at least 1 year.
