About the position

The Operations Manager directs a highly technical workforce responsible for air traffic control services and tactical and strategic support, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of aircraft. This role involves training and guiding subordinates, integrating resources with operational needs, and continuously reviewing work processes to meet organizational goals. The Operations Manager also plays a key role in team building, performance evaluation, and addressing workforce issues, while fostering a diverse and equitable work environment.

Responsibilities

• Direct a highly technical workforce providing air traffic control services and support.
• Provide training, coaching, and guidance to subordinates.
• Integrate support resources with operational needs to maintain effective air traffic control service.
• Continuously review work processes to ensure they meet agency missions and customer needs.
• Assign and review work, plan schedules, and set priorities.
• Evaluate work performance of subordinates and ensure equity in performance standards.
• Identify and arrange for developmental training needs of subordinates.
• Make decisions on work problems and resolve employee grievances.
• Communicate and reinforce diversity and EEO policies in all areas of responsibility.
• Participate in labor-management partnership processes.

Requirements

• Must have held an FAA 2152 FV-J/FG-14 or above position for at least 1 year.
• Must have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year at an ATS facility.
• Must have held an MSS position for at least 1 year in an ATS facility.
• Must have held an MSS-2 or above position for a minimum of 1 year.
