The Supervisory Air Traffic Control Specialist (Operations Supervisor) position at the Department of Transportation's ATO, Eastern Air Traffic Services North, located at Kennedy ATCT, JFK, is a critical role responsible for overseeing operations within a Level 11 terminal facility. The Operations Supervisor (OS) will be tasked with planning and directing operations within delegated areas of responsibility, ensuring that the air traffic control services meet the agency's mission and customer needs. This position requires a proactive approach to managing a team of Air Traffic Control Specialists (ATCS), providing first-line supervision, training, coaching, and guidance to subordinates, and fostering team building throughout the area of responsibility. The OS will continuously review work processes to ensure that results are efficiently achieved and add value to facility services. As a member of the management team, the Operations Supervisor will work towards improving organizational performance and meeting strategic goals. When assigned as Watch Supervisor, the OS will assume overall management and supervision of the control room, ensuring that all operations are conducted safely and effectively. Candidates for this position must demonstrate specialized experience, which includes holding an FAA 2152 FV-J/FG-14 or above regional or headquarters position for at least one year, or being facility rated or area certified for at least one year in an ATS facility. The role is permanent, full-time, and does not offer telework options. Occasional travel may be required for training or other work-related duties, but relocation expenses will not be reimbursed. The position is subject to a drug test and may require a financial disclosure statement within 30 days of entry on duty.
