About the position

The Supervisory Assistant Attorney General for Administrative Prosecutions is responsible for leading a team of attorneys within the Legal Counsel Unit, providing legal advice and representation to state agencies, boards, and commissions. This role involves supervising, training, and mentoring subordinate attorneys, as well as managing individual client assignments and caseloads. The position requires effective collaboration with various stakeholders and the ability to handle complex legal issues in administrative and civil proceedings.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively supervise, train and mentor subordinate attorneys
  • Organize and oversee structured meetings with supervised attorneys to address legal issues
  • Assign Administrative Prosecutors for individual proceedings as needed
  • Represent agencies in administrative and employment proceedings, and civil litigation
  • Maintain individual client assignments and caseloads
  • Advise agencies on lawful discharge of duties and powers
  • Collaborate with agents and investigators to prosecute holders of professional licenses
  • Conduct hearings of individual proceedings
  • Prosecute holders of professional licenses before granting Boards
  • Review and approve orders and pleadings in individual proceedings
  • Engage in motion practice, appellate writing, and oral advocacy
  • Research, prepare, analyze, and understand complex legal issues
  • Present outreach materials and presentations to various groups

Requirements

  • Must be a licensed attorney in good standing with the Oklahoma State Bar
  • Superior research, writing, and communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Eligible for admission to practice in the United States District Courts for Oklahoma
  • Agreement to complete and pass a background investigation
