About the position
The Supervisory Aviation Technical Systems Specialist serves as a Front Line Manager (FLM) within the National Airway Systems Engineering (NASE) group, specifically in the Beacon & Terminal Surveillance Team. This role involves managing a highly technical workforce responsible for maintaining and developing hardware and software for operational NAS systems. The position includes overseeing multiple projects, ensuring quality control, and providing field support while also being eligible for a Manager Performance Incentive (MPI) based on performance and funding availability.
Responsibilities
- Manage and direct a technical workforce including engineers, scientists, and technicians.
- Plan and communicate the sub-team's vision and objectives.
- Set priorities and assign tasks and responsibilities to subordinate employees.
- Monitor and evaluate performance, coaching and developing employee capabilities.
- Manage the budget and resources for multiple NAS systems and projects.
- Participate in strategic planning and execution of organizational goals.
- Coordinate with headquarters, field organizations, and labor unions.
- Represent the work unit in meetings related to NAS operational equipment and engineering design reviews.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen and registered with Selective Service if applicable.
- At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-J (GS/FG-14) level.
- Experience managing and leading a team in resolving operational problems impacting NAS system performance.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in the Operational and Maintenance (O&M) NAS environment.
