About the position

The Supervisory Budget Analyst position at the Department of Defense involves overseeing the allocation of funds to various projects and programs. The role requires advising program managers on budgetary matters, supervising financial staff, and ensuring compliance with financial laws and regulations. The analyst will also establish performance standards and evaluate the performance of subordinates, providing guidance on both technical and administrative issues.

Responsibilities

• Allocates funds to projects and programs based on analysis of budget estimates, historical expenditures, projected workload, and approved funding.
• Advises program managers and management officials on the status and availability of funds, requirements for reprogramming between budget accounts, and maintenance, balance, and distribution.
• Supervises employees involved in the application of financial laws, financial systems policies, accounting principles, and practices related to budgeting and financial systems.
• Establishes standards of performance and evaluates subordinates against accepted standards.
• Provides advice, counsel, or instruction to individual employees on technical work and administrative matters.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience in formulating and executing an organizational budget, reviewing and analyzing reimbursement or expenditure requests, and providing financial advisory recommendations in accordance with budget policies and regulations.
• Experience performing a wide range of personnel management duties, such as work distribution and training.
• Must obtain and maintain Financial Management Level 2 Certification.
