About the position

The Supervisory Budget Analyst serves as a financial expert within the Fiscal Service of the Department of Veterans Affairs. This role involves developing and maintaining financial reporting systems, analyzing workload and budget data to identify trends, and overseeing the Medical Center's budget operations. The incumbent assists in establishing budget policy and provides guidance to management officials during budget formulation and execution processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain financial reporting systems.
• Analyze workload and budget data to identify trends and irregularities.
• Oversee the Medical Center's budget operations.
• Establish budget policy and provide instruction to management officials during budget formulation or execution processes.
• Perform technical reviews of financial data and provide technical advice to other services and accounting staff.
• Plan and coordinate budget briefings and monitor budget spending across all appropriations.
• Allocate funds and conduct cost analysis and statistical reporting.
• Engage in continuous support to CFO, Fiscal Staff, Management, Services, VISN, and VACO staff regarding funds availability and cost projections.
• Establish guidelines and performance expectations for supervised staff.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
• Specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-12 level in the Federal service, including planning and coordinating budget briefings and developing budget plans.
• Experience in allocating funds, conducting cost analysis, and responding to changes in budget plans.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of financial data systems such as FMS, VSSC, IFCAP, VERA, AACS, and PAID.
