About the position

The Supervisory Civil/Environmental Engineer serves as the Director of Sanitation Facilities Construction within the Department of Health and Human Services. This role is pivotal in directing the planning, funding, management, and implementation of sanitation facilities programs in collaboration with American Indian Tribes. The position involves overseeing engineering projects related to water, wastewater, and solid waste facilities, ensuring technical adequacy and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all planning, funding, management, and implementation of the Area Sanitation Facilities Construction Program.
  • Oversee district and field offices serving tribes covered by the Area.
  • Manage the employment, leadership, and development of engineers and technical support staff.
  • Ensure effective project development, planning, design, and construction activities.
  • Maintain technical adequacy of plans, designs, and specifications for sanitation facilities.
  • Manage the construction budget under Public Law 86-121 and supplemental funds.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license issued by any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service.
