About the position

The Supervisory Clinical Psychologist (Chief Psychological Officer) at the FBI is responsible for leading a team of Clinical Psychologists in conducting psychological evaluations and assessments of applicants and employees. The role involves ensuring psychological fitness for duty and suitability for security clearance, overseeing psychological programs, and making final policy decisions on clinical matters. The position requires strategic direction, program management, and collaboration with academic institutions for research purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Clinical Psychologists in psychological evaluations and assessments.
  • Oversee the execution of psychological programs and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Serve as the final authority on clinical psychological matters, including employment recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with academic institutions for research collaboration.
  • Manage program activities and ensure alignment with FBI guidelines.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Doctoral degree in clinical psychology or equivalent.
  • Experience in supervising clinical psychologists.
  • Experience in interpreting ethical principles in psychology.

Nice-to-haves

  • Five years of clinical experience.
  • Three to five years of supervisory experience managing direct reports.
  • Current state clinical mental health independent practice license in psychology or related field.
  • Experience preparing and presenting complex administrative matters.
