About the position

The Early Learning Professional Supervisory Coach at YWCA Kalamazoo is responsible for providing training, job coaching, and mentorship to Early Learning Professionals. This role ensures compliance with YWCA program policies and procedures while fostering a supportive environment for children's growth and development. The position emphasizes the importance of social justice, anti-bias education, and community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Assists children in daily activities including toileting, personal hygiene, dressing, and eating.
  • Provides daily/weekly coaching to ELP-1's to organize and implement age-appropriate learning activities for assigned classrooms.
  • Supervises children's activities to ensure safety and promote socialization.
  • Cultivates positive relationships with families, colleagues, state licensing agencies, and community partners.
  • Participates in mealtime activities to encourage good eating habits and table manners.
  • Accompanies and supervises children on field trips.
  • Commits to self-education on anti-bias education, racial justice, and gender equity issues.
  • Monitors health status of children and reports findings to the Associate.
  • Cleans up after activities and observes all Children's Center and YWCA policies and procedures.
  • Participates in 4 hours of classroom training and 3 hours of in-classroom coaching weekly with the Associate Director.
  • Complies with local, state, and federal licensing regulations and reporting of child abuse.
  • Safeguards confidential information and works cooperatively with program participants, staff, and volunteers.
  • Projects a positive image of the Association and its programs to the community.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Significant post-high school education or training in early childhood education or child/family-related fields.
  • At least three years of experience as a Child Development Specialist or equivalent Lead Teacher in a licensed child care center.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies GOLD, and Ages and Stages Questionnaire.
  • Possesses and maintains active CDA certification.
  • Satisfactory response to criminal and child abuse and neglect history checks.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
