About the position

The Supervisory Contact Representative position at the Department of the Treasury involves managing a team within the Taxpayer Services Division, specifically in the Fresno Accounts Management Service Center. The role focuses on overseeing work processes, evaluating employee performance, and ensuring high-quality service delivery to taxpayers. As a Front Line Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for planning, assigning, and reviewing work, as well as providing guidance and training to subordinates.

Responsibilities

  • Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
  • Assign work to subordinates based on priorities and the capabilities of employees.
  • Evaluate work performance of subordinates and make recommendations for recognition or disciplinary action.
  • Provide advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on work and administrative matters.
  • Interview candidates for positions within the organization/unit and recommend appointments, promotions, or reassignments.
  • Hear and resolve complaints from employees and refer grievances as appropriate.
  • Effect minor disciplinary measures and recommend actions in more serious cases.
  • Identify developmental and training needs of employees and arrange for necessary training.
  • Initiate ways to improve production, work processes, and the quality of work directed.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the next lower level within the payband or GS grade in the normal line of progression in the Federal service.
  • Demonstrated management/leadership experience applying management techniques, methods, theories, principles, or labor relations concepts.
  • Experience applying regulations and official guidance to oversee planning and implementation of technical programs.
  • Experience applying communication techniques to interact effectively with internal and external customers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in project/program management or as a team lead.
  • Technical advisory experience in a relevant field.
