Responsibilities

• Hears and resolves complaints from employees, referring unresolved issues to higher-level supervisors or managers.
• Implements minor disciplinary measures and recommends actions for more serious cases.
• Identifies and arranges for employee development and training needs.
• Initiates improvements in production and work quality.
• Develops or participates in setting performance standards.
• Approves and disapproves leave requests, recommending actions in unusual cases.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to the next lower level in the Federal service, demonstrating managerial skills and technical competence.
• Experience in applying management techniques and principles for program objectives.
• Experience in managing resources and providing support to managers and team members.
• Experience in applying regulations and official guidance relevant to the position.
• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with internal and external customers.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in project/program management or as a team lead.
• Familiarity with IRS information systems and quality management practices.
