About the position

The Supervisory Electronics Engineer serves as the Deputy Branch Chief in the Aerospace Flight Systems, specifically within the Flight Instrumentation and Systems Integration Branch. This role involves providing technical and supervisory leadership to a team of researchers and engineers focused on flight instrumentation, software development, power and avionics, and integration and testing. The position is critical for ensuring the safety, suitability, and effectiveness of flight vehicles and ground systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide organizational technical leadership and supervisory management for technical staff.
  • Conduct specialized studies on flight vehicles and/or ground systems to ensure their safety, suitability, and effectiveness in operation.
  • Serve as a consulting expert and leading authority in flight instrumentation, software development and management, power and avionics, and integration and testing.
  • Direct activities related to designing, developing, and analyzing flight systems for research aircraft.
  • Provide technical guidance on design specifications, test techniques, and analysis of flight/test data.
  • Supervise a group of technical professionals, providing administrative and technical guidance necessary for accomplishing the work of the branch.
  • Perform a full range of supervisory duties including assigning and evaluating work, recommending personnel actions, and identifying training needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science, or Computer Science from an accredited institution.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level, including interpreting and applying policies and procedures for engineering products or services, providing technical advice on flight/instrumentation systems engineering issues, and leading a team in executing engineering projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with NASA's aerospace technology and engineering processes.
