About the position

The Supervisory Electronics Engineer position at the Department of Labor's OSHA Technical Center involves overseeing the Engineering Services Division, providing leadership and technical guidance for various projects related to industrial hygiene and safety equipment. The role requires direct supervision of staff, strategic planning, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, supervise, plan, and organize the OSHA Technical Center Engineering Services Division operations and activities.
  • Oversee and provide leadership and technical guidance over complex operations involving professional, technician, and contract staff.
  • Plan, direct, and control the work of the organization by carrying out supervisory responsibilities related to immediate subordinates.
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance, including setting priorities and reviewing completed work.
  • Develop strategic goals and objectives, and provide technical oversight in program planning and development.
  • Propose, formulate, evaluate, plan, and oversee technical programs and projects to meet agency needs.
  • Design, modify, and construct systems for calibration and service of industrial hygiene and safety equipment.
  • Develop and maintain necessary software for operation and control of computer-operated calibration systems.
  • Represent OSHA's interests to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide professional advice and assistance to management and staff regarding sampling and measurement instrumentation.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and at least 16 years old.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program or equivalent experience.
  • At least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to GS-13 level, including coordinating with federal or state agencies and developing electronic systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
