About The Position

The Supervisory Emergency Management Specialist (Recovery) position at the Department of Homeland Security involves leading one of four Public Assistance teams in Region 9. Requirements

• One full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal government.
• Experience developing written guidance to communicate policy-based decisions.
• Experience implementing decisions based on applicable statutes, regulations, and/or policies.
• Experience monitoring workload and performance of subordinates or team members.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in emergency management or disaster recovery programs.
• Knowledge of FEMA's delivery model and grant management processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead one of four Public Assistance teams managing field operations in Region 9.
• Facilitate the delivery of all aspects of the Public Assistance program to applicants.
• Apply policy and procedure to damage assessments, disaster surveys, and public assistance recovery operations.
• Manage recovery programs and projects, including site inspections and summarizing damages.
• Communicate requirements for assistance and manage applicant expectations.
• Provide supervisory oversight and technical guidance to staff regarding the delivery of a grant program.
• Engage and collaborate with internal and external partners to improve program effectiveness.
