About the position

The Supervisory Facility Operations Specialist oversees the building support team for approximately 15 facilities, including the NIST Boulder Central Utility Plant. This role involves managing maintenance operations, supervising staff, ensuring compliance with safety practices, and acting as a Contracting Officer's Representative to develop procurement packages and manage contracts for maintenance services while collaborating with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage tasks assigned to the building support team across approximately 15 buildings.
  • Plan, assign, organize, direct, coordinate, schedule, estimate, expedite, inspect, and supervise the work of the team.
  • Manage scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, repairs, and projects.
  • Coordinate with external entities such as the State of Colorado, City of Boulder Water, and Xcel Energy to implement best management safety practices.
  • Develop procurement packages that include statements of work, government estimates, applicable drawings, specifications, and other necessary documents for acquisitions.
  • Manage preventive maintenance service and repair contracts.
  • Collaborate with researchers and administrative staff to coordinate projects and maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level, including supervising and conducting administrative and facilities support activities.
  • Experience in overseeing construction management, assigning duties to subordinates, managing maintenance operations, and handling contract and project management.
  • Experience coordinating with customers regarding maintenance-related activities and repairs.
