About the position

The Supervisory Federal Air Marshal (Training) position is a critical role within the Department of Homeland Security's Transportation Security Administration (TSA). This position is located at the TSA Training Center in Atlantic City, NJ, and is part of the TSA Leadership Succession Planning and Development Program. The role is designed for individuals who are committed to safeguarding the American way of life by securing transportation systems across the nation. As a Federal Law Enforcement Officer, the incumbent will perform duties assigned to Federal Air Marshals, contributing to the overall mission of protecting the nation's civil transportation systems through effective risk-based strategic deployment of resources. In this capacity, the Supervisory Air Marshal in Charge (SAC) will provide senior-level leadership and guidance to a diverse workforce that includes Federal Air Marshals, TSA employees, and various law enforcement stakeholders. The SAC will serve as a primary advisor to the LE/FAMS Director and Executive Staff, focusing on ongoing training requirements and methods to enhance security within the transportation domain. The position involves managing a wide range of programs related to curriculum development, training delivery, safety, records maintenance, and instructor certification, ensuring that all training meets the highest standards of quality and effectiveness. The SAC will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with law enforcement organizations at all levels, serving as a point of contact for media and promotional activities related to the LE/FAMS. This role includes supervisory responsibilities, such as assigning work, setting priorities, evaluating performance, and coaching employees, all while fostering an inclusive and equitable work environment. The position requires strategic planning and effective communication of the organization's vision and objectives, ensuring that all employees are trained fairly and that diversity is promoted within the workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Supervisory Air Marshal in Charge (SAC) of the TSA Training Center located in Atlantic City, NJ.
  • Provide senior level leadership and guidance to a workforce consisting of Federal Air Marshals, TSA employees, and law enforcement stakeholders.
  • Act as a primary advisor and authoritative consultant to the LE/FAMS Director and Executive Staff on training requirements and security improvements.
  • Direct the day-to-day operations of the TSA Training Center program, including curriculum development and training delivery methodology.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with multiple law enforcement organizations to support law enforcement programs.
  • Supervise first line supervisory personnel at the TSA Training Center, including assigning work and evaluating performance.
  • Develop short and long-range planning and goal development based on organizational needs and customer coordination.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Completion of a favorable Tier 5 Background Investigation (T5).
  • Pass Drug Screening and subject to random drug tests.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Prior experience in a primary law enforcement position is necessary.
  • Must sign a mobility agreement upon selection and be willing to relocate as needed.
  • Must meet the entry and recurrent medical standards of the Federal Air Marshal Medical Examination Program.
