About the position

As a Supervisory Field Examiner (Fiduciary Coach) at the Department of Veterans Affairs, you will play a critical role in ensuring that all fiduciary decisions, awards, field examinations, accountings, fund usage reviews, and misuse determinations are processed efficiently. Your primary responsibility will be to assess the competence, adjustment, and personal welfare of beneficiaries while safeguarding their assets from loss or diversion. This position requires a deep understanding of fiduciary responsibilities and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments to make informed decisions that impact the lives of veterans and their beneficiaries. In this role, you will lead a team of 6-20 administrative employees, providing guidance and support as they carry out their duties. You will be responsible for planning, directing, and assigning work priorities, ensuring that your team maintains the highest technical and professional standards in handling fiduciary issues. Your expertise will be essential in interpreting regulations, precedent decisions, and other controlling guidelines, as well as in providing uniform understanding through training and instructional materials. You will also be tasked with resolving complex questions of interpretation and making final determinations on fiduciary matters. This position requires strong leadership skills, as you will influence and motivate your team while adapting your leadership style to various situations. Your ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences will be crucial in fostering a collaborative work environment and ensuring that all team members are aligned with the agency's mission and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and assign work priorities for a team of 6-20 administrative employees.
  • Maintain technical and professional authority in complex fiduciary issues.
  • Implement laws, policies, and procedures through supplemental directives and procedural instructions.
  • Resolve and make final determinations on questions of interpretation of regulations and guidelines.
  • Provide training and uniform understanding through conferences and instructional materials.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required to apply for this job.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service.
  • Experience in coaching, counseling, or training employees.
  • Ability to plan, assign, and review work of subordinates with authority over the work product.
  • Researching laws, regulations, and Federal legislation related to Veterans' benefits programs.
  • Effective written communication skills to diverse audiences.
