About the position

As a Supervisory Financial Management Analyst for the Department of Defense, you will play a critical role in formulating budgets and estimations to support various plans, programs, and activities. This includes the responsibility of presenting and defending budget estimates before relevant authorities. You will be involved in all phases of budget administration, providing advice and implementing internal controls to ensure effective and efficient use of funds in support of the organization's programs and activities. Your role will also require you to prepare briefs for senior managers regarding program execution, offering recommendations to address any variances or problem areas that may arise. In addition to budget formulation, you will coordinate the development and reporting of cost/performance information that supports mission tasks for the organization. As a supervisor, you will perform a full range of supervisory duties, which include assigning work based on priorities, advising on financial management issues, and identifying development requirements for subordinate personnel. Monitoring and analyzing the status of funds within financial management and supply systems will also be a key part of your responsibilities, ensuring that financial resources are managed effectively and efficiently. This position requires a strong understanding of financial management regulations and the ability to interpret and apply these regulations to provide guidance on financial issues. You will exemplify leadership by providing human capital management to your team, ensuring that they are equipped to perform their roles effectively and efficiently. Your expertise will be essential in making recommendations based on thorough research and analysis of financial data, ensuring that the organization meets its financial obligations and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate budget and estimations to support plans, programs, and activities.
  • Present and defend budget estimates before authorities.
  • Perform or advise on work in any of the phases or systems of budget administration.
  • Implement internal controls and provide advice on effective and efficient methods for the acquisition and use of funds.
  • Prepare briefs for senior managers on program execution and provide recommendations to correct program variances or problem areas.
  • Coordinate the development and reporting of cost/performance information in support of mission tasks.
  • Perform the full range of supervisory duties, including assigning work based on priorities and advising on financial management issues.
  • Monitor and analyze the status of funds within financial management and supply systems.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Current federal employees must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level (time-in-grade requirement).
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • Must achieve Financial Management Level 3 certification within prescribed timelines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with the Defense Travel System (DTS), SLDCADA, and DCPDS.
  • Knowledge of Financial Management Regulations (FMR) and Joint Travel Regulations (JTR).
