About the position

The Supervisory Financial Management Analyst will oversee the Payroll and Labor Accounting Branch at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. This role involves providing technical direction, leading the implementation of financial systems, and mentoring team members to foster their development and ensure effective succession planning.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with accounting theory, principles, laws, and regulations in Payroll and Labor Accounting operations.
• Provide technical direction and oversight for all areas of Payroll and Labor Accounting.
• Lead the implementation of new financial systems and enhancements to existing systems.
• Ensure reconciliation of all financial systems and transactions, addressing corrections and root causes.
• Allocate adequate time for leadership development activities and mentor team members.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level.
• Experience in reviewing and evaluating budget requests and reporting on obligations and expenditures.
• Experience in analyzing and recommending financial management methods for organizational programs.
• Experience ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in accounting work.
• Experience in assigning work and providing oversight to subordinates.
