About the position

The Supervisory Financial Systems Analyst position at the Department of the Treasury is a critical role within the Chief Financial Officer Division, focusing on the management and oversight of financial systems and processes. As a Front Line Manager, you will be responsible for planning and executing work assignments for your team, ensuring that short-term priorities are met while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. This role requires a strong understanding of financial administration and program management, as well as the ability to lead and mentor a diverse group of employees. You will be tasked with evaluating the performance of your subordinates, providing guidance and support, and identifying training needs to foster professional development within your team. In this position, you will also play a key role in the recruitment process, interviewing candidates and making recommendations for appointments and promotions. You will be expected to handle employee grievances and disciplinary actions, ensuring a fair and equitable work environment. Your leadership will be essential in initiating improvements in production and work processes, ultimately contributing to the overall effectiveness of the financial systems within the agency. The position is telework eligible, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements, but it requires adherence to specific telework policies. You will be subject to a probationary period and must file a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report upon appointment. The role demands a high level of communication skills, as you will interact with various stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure the successful implementation of financial programs and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
  • Assign work to subordinates based on priorities and the capabilities of employees.
  • Evaluate work performance of subordinates and make recommendations for performance recognition or disciplinary action.
  • Provide advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on work and administrative matters.
  • Interview candidates for positions and recommend appointments, promotions, or reassignments.
  • Resolve complaints from employees and refer grievances as appropriate.
  • Effect minor disciplinary measures and recommend actions in more serious cases.
  • Identify developmental and training needs of employees and arrange for necessary training.
  • Initiate improvements in production and work processes to increase quality.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to the next lower level in the Federal service, demonstrating managerial skills and technical competence.
  • Experience in applying management techniques, methods, and principles for program objectives with technical and administrative oversight.
  • Experience managing resources, providing support to managers, mentoring team members, and overseeing peers or others.
  • Experience applying regulations and principles to oversee planning, development, and implementation of technical programs.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with internal and external customers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in financial systems management or analysis.
