About the position

The Supervisory Financial Systems Analyst position at the Department of the Treasury is a critical role within the Chief Financial Officer Division. This position is designed for individuals who are ready to take on managerial responsibilities while overseeing financial systems and processes. As a Front Line Manager, you will be responsible for planning and executing work assignments for your team, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. You will set short-term priorities and prepare schedules to meet deadlines, while also assigning work based on the complexity of tasks and the capabilities of your subordinates. In this role, you will evaluate the performance of your team members, providing constructive feedback and recommendations for recognition or disciplinary actions as necessary. You will also play a key role in the hiring process, interviewing candidates and making recommendations for appointments, promotions, or reassignments. Addressing employee complaints and grievances will be part of your responsibilities, as well as identifying training and development needs to enhance team performance. Your leadership will be essential in initiating improvements in production and work processes, ensuring that the quality of work meets the standards expected by the agency. This position requires a strong understanding of financial systems and the ability to apply management techniques effectively to achieve program objectives. You will be expected to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, representing the agency's policies and objectives clearly and diplomatically.

Responsibilities

  • Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
  • Assign work to subordinates based on priorities and the capabilities of employees.
  • Evaluate work performance of subordinates and make recommendations for performance recognition or disciplinary action.
  • Provide advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on work and administrative matters.
  • Interview candidates for positions and recommend appointments, promotions, or reassignments.
  • Resolve complaints from employees and refer unresolved complaints as appropriate.
  • Effect minor disciplinary measures and recommend actions in more serious cases.
  • Identify developmental and training needs of employees and arrange for necessary training.
  • Initiate improvements in production, work processes, and quality of work.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to the next lower level in the Federal service, demonstrating managerial skills and technical competence.
  • Experience in applying management techniques, methods, theories, and principles for program objectives with technical and administrative oversight.
  • Experience in managing resources, providing support to managers, mentoring team members, and overseeing peers or others.
  • Experience applying regulations and principles to oversee planning, development, and implementation of technical programs.
  • Strong communicative skills to interact effectively with internal and external customers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in financial administration and program management.
  • Knowledge of IRS administrative financial processes and systems.
  • Ability to conduct briefings and prepare comprehensive reports.
