About the position

The Supervisory Financial Systems Analyst position at the Department of the Treasury is a critical role within the Chief Financial Officer Division, focusing on internal controls, outreach, and education. As a Front Line Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of financial analysts, ensuring that work is planned and executed efficiently. This includes setting priorities, preparing schedules, and assigning tasks based on the capabilities of your team members. You will evaluate the performance of your subordinates, providing feedback and recommendations for recognition or disciplinary actions as necessary. Additionally, you will play a key role in the hiring process, interviewing candidates and making recommendations for appointments, promotions, or reassignments. In this position, you will also be tasked with addressing employee complaints and grievances, ensuring a harmonious work environment. You will identify the developmental and training needs of your team, arranging for necessary training to enhance their skills and productivity. Your leadership will be essential in initiating improvements in production and work processes, ultimately increasing the quality of work produced by your team. This role requires a blend of managerial skills and technical competence, as you will be expected to apply management techniques and principles to achieve program objectives while overseeing the technical aspects of financial systems and processes. The position is telework eligible, but employees must meet specific IRS telework eligibility requirements. You will be subject to a one-year probationary period and must file a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of your appointment. The role requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of performance and compliance with federal regulations, making it essential for candidates to possess strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
  • Assign work to subordinates based on priorities and the capabilities of employees.
  • Evaluate work performance of subordinates and make recommendations for performance recognition or disciplinary action.
  • Provide advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on work and administrative matters.
  • Interview candidates for positions and recommend appointments, promotions, or reassignments.
  • Resolve complaints from employees and refer unresolved complaints as appropriate.
  • Effect minor disciplinary measures and recommend actions in more serious cases.
  • Identify developmental and training needs of employees and arrange for necessary training.
  • Initiate ways to improve production, work processes, and increase the quality of work directed.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the next lower level within the payband or GS grade in the normal line of progression in the Federal service.
  • Management/leadership experience applying management techniques, methods, theories, principles, or labor relations concepts for program objectives.
  • Experience managing resources, providing support to managers, mentoring team members, and overseeing peers or others.
  • Experience applying regulations and principles to oversee planning, development, and implementation of technical aspects of programs.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with internal and external customers.
