About the position
The position is for a Front-Line Manager within the Taxpayer Services Division at the IRS, responsible for overseeing and managing a team to ensure effective service delivery. The role involves planning, assigning work, evaluating performance, and providing guidance to employees, as well as addressing employee grievances and identifying training needs.
Responsibilities
- Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
- Assign work to subordinates based on priorities and the capabilities of employees.
- Evaluate work performance of subordinates and make recommendations for recognition or disciplinary action.
- Provide advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on work and administrative matters.
- Interview candidates for positions and recommend appointments, promotions, or reassignments.
- Resolve complaints from employees and refer grievances as appropriate.
- Effect minor disciplinary measures and recommend actions in more serious cases.
- Identify developmental and training needs of employees and arrange for necessary training.
- Initiate improvements in production, work processes, and quality of work.
Requirements
- One year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the next lower level in the Federal service.
- Experience demonstrating management/leadership skills, including applying management techniques and overseeing program objectives.
- Experience applying regulations and principles to oversee planning and implementation of technical programs.
- Experience in effective communication with internal and external customers.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in project/program management or as a team lead.
- Technical advisory experience in a relevant field.
