About the position

The Supervisory General Engineer/Architect (Design Director - ECH IV) will oversee the Design Division at the Naval Facilities Engineering Command in Hawaii. This role involves managing project planning, schedules, technical guidance, and budget requirements for facility renovation and maintenance projects. The position requires directing a multi-discipline design team and ensuring projects are completed within established timeframes while meeting strategic agency goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project planning, schedules, technical guidance, and budget requirements for facility renovation and maintenance projects.
  • Direct a multi-discipline design team responsible for studies or design of projects from concept development through completion.
  • Develop objectives and set priorities for personnel to meet strategic direction and agency goals.
  • Brief higher level management on work status, technical decisions, and recommendations.
  • Compose technical correspondence to communicate engineering and architectural designs, plans, and objectives to management and staff.
  • Propose planning solutions to facilities problems to ensure timely project completion.

Requirements

  • Current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect (RA) from any state, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Experience in planning and evaluating short and long-range programs impacting national and international issues.
  • Experience supporting planning, designing, and construction projects, including large Military Construction (MILCON) projects and smaller Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization (SRM) efforts.
  • Ability to provide innovative recommendations concerning project costs, schedules, and risk engineering using advanced engineering or architectural theories.
  • Experience executing procurements on design and construction constraints.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in interdisciplinary positions related to engineering or architecture.
  • Knowledge of facility acquisition and project funding authority levels.
