About the position

The Supervisory General Engineer oversees the operation, maintenance, design, construction, and modification of buildings, utilities, grounds, and associated systems for the Pine Ridge Service Unit in Pine Ridge, SD. This role involves supervising staff, ensuring project completion, and monitoring contracts, all while reporting to the Facility Manager.

Responsibilities

• Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets priorities and prepares schedules for completion of work.
• Develops performance standards and evaluates work performance.
• Administers the overall planning, programming, coordination, and administration of program services.
• Prepares an annual facilities program plan to provide for the maintenance and repair of buildings and structures.
• Oversees the Engineering Branch to ensure reviews of design drawings and specifications submitted by engineers, architects, and contractors.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Must have a degree in Engineering or a combination of education and experience in engineering.
• Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service.
• Knowledge of General Engineering theories, principles, practices, and techniques is required.

• Professional registration or licensure as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Professional Engineer (PE).
• Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
