About the position

The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) is seeking a Supervisory Health Scientist Administrator (Program Officer & Scientific Review Officer) to serve as a deputy branch chief. This position is pivotal in administering the review of grant applications and contract proposals, which includes the recruitment of extramural scientists to serve as peer reviewers. The ideal candidate will possess a strong record of independent research experience and demonstrate a commitment to excellence, energy, enthusiasm, and innovative thinking necessary for administering scientific review meetings. The Scientific Review Branch (SRB) is responsible for a wide range of functions related to the planning and conducting of initial reviews of various types of grant applications and technical merit evaluations of contract proposals. These areas include demography, social sciences, population dynamics, fertility and infertility, contraceptive methods, women's health, infant survival, safety and efficacy of pharmaceuticals for pregnant individuals, HIV transmission, pediatric growth, child development, and intellectual disabilities, among others. The successful candidate will employ strong collaborative leadership and communication skills to manage and coordinate various aspects of SRB, including supervising health scientist administrators and support staff while providing technical leadership in a major subject-matter area.
