About the position

The Supervisory HR Specialist position at the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) HQ involves managing the Staffing & Classification Division. This role serves as the first-level supervisor for a team of HR Specialists, focusing on complex civilian HR issues such as staffing, recruitment, and classification. The position requires collaboration with senior management and provides technical guidance on recruitment and staffing programs, ensuring effective personnel servicing across the agency.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise a team of HR Specialists in the Staffing and Classification Division.
• Provide technical guidance on recruitment, staffing, and placement programs.
• Coordinate and integrate key program segments of the personnel servicing program for the agency.
• Conduct policy reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of current HR policies and practices.
• Develop proposals for policy changes within specialized HR fields.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-13 level in federal service.
• Experience managing and directing agency-wide civilian HR functions including recruitment and classification.
• Ability to provide expert advisory services on civilian HR disciplines related to recruitment and staffing.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with special hiring authorities and direct hire processes.
• Knowledge of federal HR policies and procedures.
