The Supervisory Human Resources Specialist (Employee Relations) position within the Department of the Air Force is designed to serve as a first-level supervisor, overseeing the planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the 42nd Force Support Squadron (FSS). This role is critical in ensuring that the Civilian Personnel Section operates in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements while meeting the needs of customers. The incumbent will represent the Civilian Personnel Flight in various installation and functional area organizations, providing essential employee relations assistance to managers in complex organizational settings. This position requires a high degree of discretion due to the sensitive nature of the information handled and the potential for involvement in controversial conduct-related issues. The responsibilities include planning and directing the activities of the Employee-Management Relations (EMR) Branch, ensuring that all work aligns with established legal frameworks and customer expectations. The specialist will be tasked with providing consultation and assistance on intricate employee relations matters, which may involve navigating complex legal issues and advising managers on appropriate responses to various conduct and performance challenges. The role also involves exercising supervisory personnel management responsibilities, which include evaluating staff performance, providing guidance, and ensuring that the team operates effectively within the established guidelines. This position is permanent and full-time, with a salary range of $103,409 to $134,435 per year, classified under the GS-13 pay scale. The role is located at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, and while it does not allow for remote work, telework may be permitted as determined by agency policy. Occasional travel may be required, and relocation expenses may be reimbursed in accordance with agency policy. The position is subject to a one-year supervisory probation period and may require the incumbent to work overtime or during non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
