About the position

The Supervisory Human Resources Specialist (MIL) position within the Department of Defense involves overseeing the daily operations of the Operations Branch, providing guidance on complex HR issues, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The role includes quality assurance oversight of administrative functions across various branches and managing recruitment processes. This position is critical for maintaining effective personnel administration and supporting the mission of the Installation Personnel Administrative Center (IPAC).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage the day-to-day operations of the Operations Branch.
  • Provide guidance and handle complex HR issues.
  • Disseminate and brief on new or modified regulations and procedures.
  • Exercise quality assurance oversight of administrative functions in the Outbound Branch, Inbound Branch, and Command Support Branch.
  • Manage internal inspection program, including periodic inspections, evaluations, and audits for all branches of IPAC.
  • Initiate requests for recruitment, interviewing, and selecting employees.
  • Plan, schedule, and assign work; certify timecards; evaluate subordinates' performance, recommend promotions and awards.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Must meet time-in-grade requirements for current federal employees applying for GS jobs.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • Must complete training and maintain a government credit card for travel-related purchases.
  • Experience in military personnel programs, particularly with the Marine Corps Total Force System (MCTFS).
  • Ability to analyze data, identify issues, generate reports, and offer actionable recommendations pertaining to personnel administration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
