About the position

The Supervisory Human Resources Specialist (Military) position at the Department of Defense involves developing and recommending policies for officer accessions and cadet management. The role requires advising leadership on technical matters, conducting studies, supervising subordinates, and representing the Command at various conferences. This position is critical for ensuring effective human resources management within the military context.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and recommends policy and plans for Command staffed actions.
  • Advise leadership and other authorities on all technical matters relating to officer accessions and Cadet Management.
  • Conducts studies of the officer accession process and cadet management.
  • Supervise subordinates in the performance of their duties by planning, assigning, and reviewing work to be accomplished.
  • Provides instructions on difficult or different work problems and procedures.
  • Trains subordinates in the selection and application of appropriate problem-solving methods and techniques.
  • Represents the Command at various agency and interagency planning conferences and provides technical assistance as required.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • Experience providing technical advice and guidance on HR management regulations such as accessions and personnel management.
  • Experience applying Human Resources concepts to develop recommendations for changes to Human Resources plans and programs.
  • Experience preparing reports or presentation briefings to inform officials of analysis results for use in the decision-making process.
