The Supervisory Human Resources Specialist (Military) position within the Department of Defense is a critical role that involves advising superiors on various matters related to laws, regulations, policies, and procedures to enhance program management. This position requires a deep understanding of military personnel policies and the ability to interpret these guidelines to assist customers effectively. Regular administrative reporting is essential to keep command or higher headquarters informed of changes in military personnel actions, ensuring that all levels of leadership are equipped with the necessary information to make informed decisions. In this role, the specialist will adapt applicable guidelines to meet the unique staffing, management, and mission requirements of the organization. Detailed planning is required to determine data requirements and processes for assessing complex military human resources problems. The specialist will provide leadership with options to ensure the effective operation of assigned military human resources programs, including analyzing military strength data to forecast gains and losses, which will inform command leadership about projected personnel needs. The application of military personnel regulations to resolve complex management issues is a key responsibility, requiring both analytical and problem-solving skills. This position is supervisory in nature, as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's General Schedule Supervisory Guide, and includes a one-year probation period to assess the incumbent's ability to perform supervisory duties. The role is located at Fort Gregg-Adams, VA, and requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance for the duration of employment.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • One year of specialized experience applying military Human Resources regulations and policies to management programs.
  • Experience utilizing automated Military Personnel and management systems to process reports and actions.
  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Business Administration or Human Resources Management, or 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.
