About the position

The Supervisory Interdisciplinary Community Planner/Archeologist/Biologist/Architect/Physical Scientist position serves as the Regional Tribal Liaison for the Commander of Navy Region Northwest and the Senior Program Manager for the Cultural Resources Program. This role is pivotal in facilitating tribal relations, managing cultural resources, and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations while representing the Navy in various consultations and interactions with tribal governments and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Regional Tribal Liaison and Senior Program Manager for the Cultural Resources Program.
  • Provide expertise and consultation services on cultural resources to clients within the Area of Responsibility.
  • Represent the Regional Commander in tribal relations and government-to-government consultations.
  • Assign work to subordinates based on priorities and evaluate their performance.
  • Serve as the principal civilian consultant on Cultural Resources program management.
  • Determine and manage all program requirements for command Cultural Resources products and services.

Requirements

  • Must be a Registered Architect (RA) if applying for the 0808 series, with a current registration in a U.S. jurisdiction.
  • At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Experience serving as a facilitator between tribes and Federal government entities, conducting consultations and maintaining complex relationships.
  • Extensive knowledge of Federal and State acts, laws, regulations, and tribal treaties related to regional Tribal matters.
  • Authority in identifying, defining, and resolving critical problems of Cultural Resource Conservation Programs.
  • Experience providing cultural awareness training and leading tribal relations groups.
  • Expertise in advanced archeological, architectural, or related cultural and scientific theories and principles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in community planning or related fields such as urban affairs, architecture, or sociology.
  • Knowledge of environmental studies and scientific writing.
