About the position

The Supervisory Inventory Management Specialist position at the Northern Arizona VA Healthcare System is responsible for overseeing non-expendable assets and materials within the Supply Chain Management department. This role involves lifecycle management, supply management, and supervision of staff, ensuring effective property management and control of personal property. The specialist serves as a subject matter expert and advisor to senior management on material management concepts and practices.

Responsibilities

• Manage the lifecycle of non-expendable assets and develop multi-year equipment plans.
• Utilize automated planning tools for non-expendable inventory management.
• Participate in strategic planning and quality management of the equipment program.
• Conduct analysis and make recommendations for standardization opportunities.
• Supervise employees from separate but interrelated units and manage their performance.
• Develop position descriptions and performance standards for staff.
• Conduct performance reviews and assist staff with performance issues.
• Monitor overtime usage and resolve informal complaints and grievances.
• Coordinate training and development programs for subordinate staff.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal service, including planning and executing inventory management programs.
• Experience in overseeing physical inventories and supply reconciliations.
• Ability to conduct data analysis for acquisition planning and review supply processes.
• Supervisory experience including planning, assigning, and evaluating work.

Nice-to-haves

• Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education in a related field.
• Experience with automated inventory management systems.
