About the position
The Supervisory IT Cybersecurity Specialist - Deputy Chief Information Security Officer position at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is responsible for overseeing the information security program, including the enterprise security operations center and computer incident response team. The role involves developing and maintaining the Department's cybersecurity architecture, advising on cybersecurity performance oversight, and providing timely information on threats and vulnerabilities to senior officials. This position is critical in ensuring the protection of the Department's information assets against cyber threats.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the information security program in consultation with the CISO and senior agency officials.
- Develop and maintain the Department's cybersecurity architecture.
- Advise on Departmental cybersecurity performance oversight, including independent testing and validation of cybersecurity controls.
- Provide oversight of Departmental cybersecurity contracts and procurements impacting security.
- Deliver current and timely cybersecurity threat and vulnerability information to senior officials.
Requirements
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service, including identifying vulnerabilities and planning remediation solutions.
- Experience in implementing and overseeing a cybersecurity risk management strategy.
- Experience in staffing and training to develop employees.
- Providing risk oversight of existing applications, services, or processes.
- Providing system security guidance related to current and emerging cyber threats.
- Demonstrated competencies in Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving.
