About the position

The Supervisory IT Specialist (Chief Technology Officer) position at the Office of Inspector General (OIG) of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is a senior leadership role responsible for advising on IT management trends and overseeing the IT operations within the OIG. The role involves supervising staff, managing IT systems, and ensuring compliance with security requirements while aligning IT strategies with the agency's goals.

Responsibilities

• Serve as key advisor to the Inspector General and core member of OIG's senior leadership team.
• Advise on management and IT trends in the Federal government and OIG community.
• Supervise and oversee the work of Office of Management employees related to budget, financial management, and IT.
• Evaluate subordinates' performance and recommend promotions and disciplinary measures.
• Establish and implement long-range work plans and goals in alignment with OIG's strategic plan.
• Provide oversight of contractors and ensure compliance with IT and HR-related contracts.
• Represent the IG in external working groups and committees.
• Lead activities to support OIG's new and emerging technology needs.
• Direct the development of OIG policies and ensure effective delivery of programs and services.
• Manage assigned projects and communicate complex technical requirements to non-technical personnel.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service.
• Experience supervising IT staff and overseeing their work.
• Experience designing, developing, and managing complex IT systems.
• Experience advising senior leaders on IT, human capital resources, and funds management.
• Experience briefing senior leaders on IT trends and issues.
• Experience managing IT contracts and ensuring performance deliverables.
