About the position

The Supervisory IT Specialist position in the Department of Veterans Affairs' Office of Information Technology (OIT) focuses on overseeing the daily operations of the End User Services unit. This role is critical in ensuring that agency policies are adhered to while providing optimal IT support to various healthcare facilities. The specialist will manage performance standards, evaluate staff, and ensure compliance with risk management protocols, all while enhancing the overall IT service delivery to veterans.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the unit and ensure compliance with agency policies.
• Develop performance standards and evaluate the work performance of subordinates.
• Monitor and measure risk compliance and assurance efforts.
• Identify requirements and organize personnel resources effectively.
• Provide ongoing optimization and problem-solving support.
• Recommend improvements and upgrades to IT systems.
• Identify training needs for staff and provide necessary training.
• Diagnose and resolve customer-reported system incidents and problems.
• Prepare and present justification for organizational structure and personnel requirements.
• Develop organizational work plans and schedules to efficiently carry out the unit's work.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Selective Service Registration required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Must meet time-in-grade requirements for GS-12 position, having served 52 weeks at GS-11 level.
• IT-related experience demonstrating competencies in attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem-solving.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 level in federal service, particularly in IT operations and management.
