About the position

The Supervisory IT Specialist position at the Department of Veterans Affairs is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the End User Services unit. This role involves ensuring compliance with agency policies, developing performance standards, evaluating staff performance, and managing personnel resources. The position aims to enhance the delivery of IT services to veterans through effective leadership and technical guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the daily operation of the unit and ensures compliance with agency policies.
  • Develops performance standards and evaluates work performance of subordinates.
  • Approves expenses related to within-grade increases, extensive overtime, and employee travel.
  • Identifies requirements and organizes personnel resources.
  • Hears and resolves minor complaints from employees.
  • Interviews candidates for positions within the unit.
  • Identifies training needs and recommends awards or bonuses for non-supervisory personnel.
  • Prepares and presents justification for organizational structure and personnel requirements.
  • Ensures development of organizational work plans and schedules.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Current federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements.
  • At least one year of specialized experience comparable to the GS-11 level.
  • Experience must be IT-related, demonstrating competencies in attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem-solving.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in directing and providing technical guidance to improve IT programs.
  • Leadership and mentoring experience.
  • Ability to analyze options for applications, communications, and network changes.
