About the position

The Supervisory IT Specialist (Deputy Director) position at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) involves overseeing the project management and technical execution of solutions within the Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A), specifically in the Mission Solutions Division (MSD). The role is critical in ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet customer needs while enhancing intelligence information sharing across various stakeholders. The Deputy Director will lead efforts in Agile transformation, manage personnel, and oversee budget planning and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and lead project management and technical execution of all solutions across MSD.
  • Plan, organize, and direct activities ensuring projects are on time and within budget.
  • Ensure effective and efficient agile delivery of tools, systems, and services to stakeholders.
  • Lead Agile Transformation efforts by assessing development teams' agile maturity and identifying gaps.
  • Champion customer experience while integrating mission and technology to improve user experience.
  • Accelerate corporate adoption of DevSecOps tools and practices.
  • Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities, including selection and performance evaluation.
  • Perform budget planning, formulation, and execution related to the TDS/MSD annual budget.

Requirements

  • Must possess at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-14 level in the Federal service or comparable experience.
  • Experience in project management best practices and agile methodologies.
  • Strong attention to detail and customer service skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities and experience in leading teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with DevSecOps tools and practices.
  • Familiarity with cloud architectures and integrated systems.
