About the position

The Supervisory IT Specialist (InfoSec/SysAdmin) position within the Department of the Navy is responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data. This role involves planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of IT security and network systems. The specialist will manage installations, coordinate troubleshooting, and enforce information security policies while overseeing subordinate staff and their work assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data.
  • Plan, analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and enhance IT security and network systems.
  • Manage the installation and integration of system fixes, updates, and enhancements.
  • Plan work for subordinates, set priorities, and prepare schedules for completion.
  • Assign work to subordinates based on priorities and employee capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain long-range hardware and software change plans.
  • Identify, track, and manage modifications to enhance the accuracy, reliability, and security of systems.
  • Provide training and implementation assistance to staff.
  • Review and prepare recommendations concerning waivers of mandatory standards.
  • Manage the implementation and dissemination of information processing standards.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • Must complete a pre-employment drug test and be subject to random testing.
  • Must qualify for inclusion into the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP).
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or NH-02 pay band.
