About the position

This position is part of the 149TH COMMUNICATIONS SQUADRON located in San Antonio, TX. The purpose of this position is to perform a full range of supervisory functions providing administrative control and technical direction and oversight for subordinate personnel within the Section.

Responsibilities

  • Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
  • Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of incumbents.
  • Evaluates work performance of subordinates and provides advice, counsel, or instruction on work and administrative matters.
  • Interviews candidates for positions in the unit; recommends appointment, promotion, or reassignment.
  • Hears and resolves complaints from incumbents, referring group grievances and more serious unresolved complaints to a higher level supervisor or manager.
  • Effects minor disciplinary measures, such as warnings and reprimands, recommending other action in more serious cases.
  • Identifies developmental and training needs of incumbents, providing or arranging for needed development and training.
  • Provides technical expertise and management oversight in the installation, administration, optimization, and operation of multiple large and enhanced complex networks and communication systems.
  • Maintains required information assurance certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M and other relevant acts.
  • Independently oversees installation, configuration, testing, migration, integration, and operation within the network operating environment.
  • Establishes project plans and priorities and coordinates with appropriate personnel to carry out the plans.
  • Coordinates installation and sustainment issues with IT and telecommunications specialists.
  • Monitors progress of assigned projects and ensures timelines are met.
  • Manages the preparation of plans and procedures and documentation for use by IT and telecommunications technicians.
  • Ensures availability and use of quality assurance checklists to ensure equipment, systems, and software meet technical design specifications.
  • Manages Commissioning and Acceptance requirements for contractor delivered operating systems and services.
  • Adheres to management control plan requirements by conducting self-inspection and staff assistance visits.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen, National, or individual who owes allegiance to the U.S.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • Must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
  • Must be certified in accordance with DOD 8570.01-M and other relevant directives.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers.
  • Irregular and/or overtime hours may be required to support operational requirements.
