About the position

The Supervisory IT Specialist (Network) position at Naval Base, Norfolk, VA, involves overseeing the Unified Atlantic Region Network Operation Center (UARNOC). The role includes planning and prioritizing work, evaluating employee performance, managing customer service requirements, and ensuring the integrity of IT functions. The specialist will lead diverse teams, manage network connectivity, and provide technical guidance while preparing reports for senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Plan work, set priorities, and make work assignments based on priority.
  • Develop performance standards and evaluate employee performance.
  • Identify developmental and training needs of employees.
  • Approve leave requests and recommend incentive awards and reassignments.
  • Establish and manage customer service and performance requirements.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and future planning of IT functions.
  • Manage diverse teams and all associated services and networks for shore and afloat customers.
  • Oversee planning, execution, and reporting of maintenance and upgrade activities for network connectivity components.
  • Provide technical guidance in acquisition and procurement, standards, and policies.
  • Prepare and present briefings/reports to senior leadership regarding priority projects.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance.
  • Experience demonstrating attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem-solving competencies.
  • Experience analyzing customer requirements and operational conditions.
  • Experience measuring performance and security for networks.
  • Experience leading and advising employees on work and administrative matters.
  • Experience developing operational plans, goals, and objectives.
