About the position

The Supervisory IT Specialist (Area Manager) position within the Department of Veterans Affairs' Office of Information and Technology focuses on leading and managing IT End User Operations. The role involves overseeing resource management, including finance and human resources, while developing and implementing strategies to enhance IT operations for veterans. This position is critical in ensuring a seamless and unified experience for all veterans through the delivery of advanced technology solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
  • Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration, and the difficulty of the work and the capability of the employees.
  • Evaluate work performance of subordinates and provide advice, counsel, or instruction on work and administrative matters.
  • Interview candidates for positions in the unit and recommend appointments, promotions, or reassignments.
  • Resolve complaints of employees and refer unresolved complaints to higher-level supervisors.
  • Identify developmental and training needs of employees and arrange for necessary development and training.
  • Find ways to improve production and increase the quality of work directed.
  • Develop performance standards.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must meet time-in-grade requirements for GS-14 position, having served 52 weeks at GS-13 level.
  • Must have IT-related experience demonstrating competencies in Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-13 level in federal service, including advanced IT concepts and project management principles.
