About the position

The Supervisory IT Specialist (SYSANALYSIS) position within the Department of Defense is responsible for directing staff involved in analyzing customer functional requirements and assisting in the design of Automated Information Systems (AIS). The role includes managing customer support issues, ensuring compliance with audit standards, and providing expert guidance on DLA policies and systems. The incumbent will also oversee project management activities, including budget management and continuous process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Direct assigned staff in analyzing customer functional requirements and designing Automated Information Systems (AIS).
  • Identify and resolve customer support problems related to DAAS System Access Requests (SARs) and customer account maintenance.
  • Evaluate staffing and realign personnel and workload to accommodate mission requirements.
  • Plan and assign work to subordinates, providing guidance on work methods and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of current DLA, Military Services, and civil agencies policies to support customer requirements.
  • Serve as a functional expert/advisor on DLA policies and systems to various stakeholders.
  • Analyze customer requirements and translate them into actionable plans and solutions.
  • Ensure timely responses to auditor requests and implement Corrective Action Plans for audit deficiencies.
  • Coordinate with other DLA entities on security and access control policies and procedures.
  • Provide expert support to manage operations budget and assist in contractor performance evaluations.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service or equivalent in the private sector.
  • Experience managing IT projects related to the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of application software.
  • Ability to analyze customer requirements and recommend business and systems improvements.
  • Knowledge of IT principles, methods, policies, and regulations related to system analysis and modification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) initiatives.
  • Familiarity with software risk management activities.
