About the position

The Supervisory IT Specialist position at the Department of the Treasury involves managing a team within the Online Services Division. The role focuses on planning, assigning, and evaluating work, as well as providing guidance and support to employees. This position requires strong leadership and technical skills to oversee IT-related projects and ensure effective service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
• Assign work to subordinates based on priorities and the capabilities of employees.
• Evaluate work performance of subordinates and make recommendations for recognition or disciplinary action.
• Provide advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on work and administrative matters.
• Interview candidates for positions and recommend appointments, promotions, or reassignments.
• Resolve complaints from employees and refer grievances as necessary.
• Identify developmental and training needs of employees and arrange for necessary training.
• Initiate improvements in production and work processes.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the next lower level within the payband or GS grade.
• Experience demonstrating management/leadership skills in IT-related projects.
• Experience applying management techniques, methods, and principles for program objectives.
• Experience applying regulations and official guidance in overseeing technical programs.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with internal and external customers.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in project/program management or as a technical advisor.
• Knowledge of labor relations concepts.
