The Supervisory Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing) position at the Lebanon VA Medical Center involves providing leadership and oversight in the Sterile Processing Service (SPS). The role is crucial for maintaining standards in reusable medical equipment processing and ensuring compliance with regulatory mandates. The incumbent will supervise a diverse staff, manage the SPS budget, and coordinate with various clinical services to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff ranging from GS 9 to GS 6 in the Sterile Processing Service.
• Ensure quality and standards in reusable medical equipment (RME) processing.
• Oversee facility RME purchases and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Manage the overall SPS budget, including resource allocation and productivity.
• Coordinate recall of sterilized items if sterility is compromised.
• Participate in committees and quality management meetings related to SPS and medical equipment.
• Communicate and collaborate with clinical services and SPS to address concerns and improve operations.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Six months of experience demonstrating the ability to perform the work or understanding of the work.
• One year above high school with at least 6 semester hours in health care related courses.
• Ability to implement regulations, policies, and procedures to manage SPS operations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of evaluating new products and equipment.
• Ability to perform a full range of supervisory duties.
