About the position

This position serves as the supervisor of a state-level Water and Easement Resources staff responsible for the coordination, direction, evaluation, and oversight of NRCS watershed and easement programs. The incumbent directs the activities of assigned staff members in assisting Conservation Districts and other units of government to identify resource problems and to develop comprehensive plans for remedial treatment and soil and water resource development.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the preliminary investigation of hydrologic units for which planning and/or modeling assistance has been requested.
  • Develops and manages agreements and contracts associated with the watershed program.
  • Represents NRCS to outside groups and maintains cooperative work relationships with state agencies, private groups, and representatives of other federal agencies.
  • Serves as the easement program manager for various natural resources conservation programs to properly control and utilize appropriate funds and provide program balance for program activities in the state.
  • Coordinates with the landscape planning, design, and field staffs in updating and maintaining current land rights work maps on all watershed projects.
  • Plans and assigns work of subordinates, sets, and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for work completion.
  • Oversees a staff consisting of GS-12 non-supervisory positions made up of scientific specialists, technical and support staff of varied series and/or grade levels.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen or US National.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
  • Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
  • Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.
  • Subject to one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period unless prior service is creditable.
  • Direct Deposit Per Public Law 104-134 all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit to their financial institution.
  • Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state motor vehicle operator's license.
