About the position

The Supervisory Natural Resource Specialist position at the Department of Agriculture involves leading a team in the development and implementation of conservation strategic plans. The incumbent will work closely with NRCS employees, representatives from other agencies, and partners to promote natural resource conservation goals. This role includes supervisory responsibilities and public information activities to enhance conservation efforts within the team.

Responsibilities

• Serve as supervisor for employees located in field offices throughout the team service area.
• Act as tribal liaison to the tribal nations in the service area.
• Develop the team to foster open communication and collaboration.
• Work with NRCS employees and partners to develop and implement effective conservation strategic plans.
• Ensure the development and implementation of public information activities to promote conservation goals.
• Develop recommendations regarding operating procedures, staffing, budget, equipment, and other requirements.
• Establish employee standards and evaluate performance.
• Provide necessary training to employees and approve leave requests.
• Oversee day-to-day operations.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen or US National.
• Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines.
• One year of specialized experience coordinating conservation planning projects with diverse stakeholders.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state motor vehicle operator's license.
• Successful completion of a one-year probationary period.
