About the position

The Supervisory Operations Research Analyst position at the Department of Defense involves leading a team responsible for conducting complex systems analyses and applying advanced analytics and data science to various resource management problems. The role requires innovative scientific and mathematical approaches to analyze issues related to finance, manpower, force management, organizational constructs, and training.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate, plan, conduct, and present complex systems analyses.
  • Apply advanced analytics and data science techniques.
  • Utilize innovative scientific and mathematical approaches to analyze resource management problems.
  • Perform studies on issues related to resource management, finance, manpower, force management, organizational constructs, and training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in operations research or a related field with at least 24 semester hours in operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, or related subjects, including 3 hours in calculus.
  • One year of specialized experience in data cleansing, preparation, analysis, and visualization using programming languages (Python, R, SAS, SQL) and analytical software (Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, SAS, Qlik).
  • Experience performing various types of statistical analyses including descriptive, inferential, predictive, prescriptive, exploratory, and causal.
