About the position

The Supervisory Paralegal position is a great opportunity for paralegals looking to develop their management skills in support of high visibility cases for the Department of Justice. You will gain invaluable litigation experience as a case may go through all or some of the phases of the EDRM spectrum, from intake/acquisition of documents and data through trial support, cases and investigations. Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise the work of paralegals and other support staff on major paralegal support efforts.
  • Perform complex legal and factual research utilizing Relativity and other eDiscovery software.
  • Manage tasks and supervise team delivery of quality work within strict deadlines.
  • Enhance management and communication skills by interacting with staff and DOJ case teams.
  • Monitor work and report on progress.
  • Ensure paralegal and support staff work meets contract and attorney requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and perform quality control spot-checks.
  • Formulate administrative and technical procedures for getting the work done.
  • Report to Project Supervisor or Project Manager and interact with various stakeholders.
  • Perform complex legal and factual research.

Requirements

  • Requires paralegal certificate, JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study.
  • At least three years of litigation paralegal experience or project experience including trial experience.
  • At least one year of experience in automated litigation support.
  • Must have supervisory experience and proven communication skills.
  • Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research procedures.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Must have hands-on familiarity with various computer applications including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and imaging.
  • Familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources preferred.
  • Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure.
  • DOJ MBI must be obtainable (US citizenship required).
